Landscape Gardening Case Studies

Garden Rescue Project

Breathing life back into a large garden in Bray with complete re-design and construction service following building works to house.

When we arrived, the garden was a building site. An extension had been built and the garden had been left in an appalling state. After the design consultation process, we set about creating a stunning garden, both front and back. The raised granite patio is framed beautifully with curved steps down to the newly laid lawn. Raised decking areas down either side of the house contained raised herb and wild flower sleeper beds, and a quiet study area for the clients daughter, lit by beautiful fairy lights. Creative planting around the borders included ferns, climbers, grasses, and a meadow grass area ensuring colour and interest all year round.

Transforming a Small Garden

Our landscaping skills were called on to create a contemporary space for enjoying outdoor living in Marlow.

What was a tired, scruffy, boring back garden was truly transformed. We laid a smooth sandstone patio at the rear of the house, with a matching path running down to the summerhouse at the far end. Old worn fencing was replaced with striking cedar batten fencing down both sides. Raised beds were built and planted with bamboo, and a new lawn laid. Creative lighting compliments all other aspects and the result is a stunning, contemporary, low-maintenance garden.

Making the Most of Slopes

A sloped garden in Maidenhead presented opportunities for working with different levels to create a modern landscape.

At the beginning of this project, the garden was on a reasonable slope, with an old, ugly concrete patio, and just scruffy old evergreen shrubs in a very uninspiring border. Following drastic groundworks, we levelled the lawn, whilst building a retaining wall of sleepers to keep the border at a raised level. The border was cleared, leaving the mature trees, and a new planting scheme was put in place. The split level patio was replaced with a smooth sandstone, single level patio that continued all the way around the house. A circular section was cut into the lawn to accommodate a dining table, and the walls were rendered and painted white to give a mediterranean feel. A remarkable transformation into a child friendly, genuinely spectacular garden.

Brightening a Dull Garden

We were called on to modernise a garden in Henley through hard landscaping to create a patio area and raised border garden.

This was a dull, boring back garden when we arrived. Half of it was overtaken with an enormous conifer hedge. We removed this hedge, instantly doubling the size of the garden, and erected a new fence and trellis so the privacy remained. We then set about excavating the raised lawn area and removing the old patio. In it’s place, we laid a new sandstone patio with drainage system, and raised borders built from beautiful stone walling. These borders were planted with a lovely variety of perennials, bulbs, and a great mix of evergreen shrubs to ensure year round colour.
