Making the Most of Slopes
A sloped garden in Maidenhead presented opportunities for working with different levels to create a modern landscape.
At the beginning of this project, the garden was on a reasonable slope, with an old, ugly concrete patio, and just scruffy old evergreen shrubs in a very uninspiring border.
Following drastic groundworks, we levelled the lawn, whilst building a retaining wall of sleepers to keep the border at a raised level. The border was cleared, leaving the mature trees, and a new planting scheme was put in place.
The split level patio was replaced with a smooth sandstone, single level patio that continued all the way around the house. A circular section was cut into the lawn to accommodate a dining table, and the walls were rendered and painted white to give a mediterranean feel. A remarkable transformation into a child friendly, genuinely spectacular garden.
